01 - Combine sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar completely dissolves. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
02 - In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed blood orange juice and lemon juice.
03 - Pour the cooled sugar syrup into the citrus juice mixture. Stir thoroughly to incorporate.
04 - Add 3 cups of cold water or sparkling water to the pitcher. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
05 - Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness or acidity as desired by adding more sugar syrup or fresh juice.
06 - Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour lemonade over ice. Garnish with blood orange slices, lemon slices, and fresh mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately while chilled.
